Congress' misplaced priorities

Here we are at the end of the fiscal year for the US Government and Congress has yet to finish passing all of the required funding bills.  I wish they would do the job we sent them to Washington DC to do instead of wasting time on health care, overseas trips, and needless hearings.  Like most American families, their first priority should be to balance the books to ensure there is money for the essentials before any other business.  They might even have time to read and comprehend the bills they are voting on!!

Obama getting ready to throw Afghanistan under the bus

Looks like President Obama is getting ready to throw Afghanistan under the bus.  WaPo: No Deadline Set for Decision on Troops  (free subscription required)  I thought this was supposed to be the good war?  Does anyone remember the Clinton administration declining to send requested troops and vehicles to Somalia in the mid-1990's?  Of course Joe Biden has come up with a plan based on all his years of military experience  Reuters: U.S. plan B for Afghanistan has its own problems .

Campaigner in Chief?

I thought Barack Obama was elected to run the country, boy was I wrong!!  I think he would be doing a lot better getting actual things accomplished if he spent more time working and listening to people instead of the "death by speech" philosophy.

WaPo: Deeds needs to "Man-Up"

Ok so they didn't really say that, but the Virginia governors race is heating up.  Those of up who live here are treated to the hatchet job the Washington Post does several times a week on the Republican nominee, Robert F. McDonnell, but today the WaPo took the Democrat nominee, R. Creigh Deeds, to task for funning on a "I'll continue the good job that Tim Kaine and Mark Warner have done."  Well, the deeds of eight years of democratic leadership in Richmond have trashed Virginia, and we are NOT better off than we were four or eight years ago.  Traffic is the second worst in the nation, most of the highway rest stops are closed (Welcome to Virginia - keep moving!), unemployment is way up, and the current governor is more worried about getting Barack Obama's agenda passed as the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee than solving the problems he was elected to do.  Here's the link to the WaPo article (free subscription required):  http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/12/AR2009091202526.html

First Post

I'm finally getting my feet wet with a political blog.  I'm a retired Air Force Colonel, a vereran of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.  I had two friends murdered by terrorists at the Pentagon on 9/11 and I am disappointed in the 9/10 attitude of the Democrats/liberals/progessives who don't realize there are really nasty people in this world who want to kill us because of our FREEDOMS.  It breaks my heart to know terrorists with the blood of brave American, British, Australian, Canadian, and other coalition troops, on their hands are being comforted by the Obama justice department, while that same justice department is seeking to prosecute the patriots of our intelligence services who kept this country safe for 8 years.
